Aurora is Colorado’s third-largest city — more than 410,000 people spread across about 164 square miles of Arapahoe, Adams and Douglas Counties, climbing from about 5,300 feet in the northwest to more than 6,200 feet on the southeast plains. It runs from the original Fletcher townsite on Colfax Avenue past Cherry Creek State Park and Buckley Space Force Base out to Aurora Reservoir and the open prairie east of E-470.
That much open ground means a lot of sky for storms to cross. On May 30, 2024, a hailstorm that started near Niwot exited the metro through northern Aurora with a swath of 1- to 2-inch hail — part of an event estimated at nearly $1.9 billion in damage. NOAA logged hail up to 2.5 inches in Aurora in June 2018, and streets in eastern Aurora were covered in hail that lingered for hours on June 1, 2026. Aurora’s roofs range from the 1950s hip-roof ranches of Hoffman Heights to the master-planned homes of Saddle Rock, Tallyn’s Reach and Painted Prairie, and every one of them takes that weather.
Roof Masters of Colorado has roofed the Front Range for more than 28 years and serves Aurora as part of our Greater Denver Metro coverage. Owner Monica Hoffmann is a former storm-damage insurance adjuster, so Aurora homeowners get someone who knows hail claims from both sides — and who stays on the job from inspection to final city sign-off.
Our full residential and commercial roofing menu is available across Aurora — northwest neighborhoods off Colfax and Havana, the Smoky Hill and Saddle Rock areas, and the new communities going up along E-470. We pull the City of Aurora permit and call in every required inspection.
Aurora requires a permit for every re-roof, and the city’s re-roofing guide spells out the details we build to: sheathing gaps no wider than 1/4 inch, drip edge at least two inches onto the deck, ice barrier where ice dams have occurred, and six nails per shingle in high-wind areas. Whether it’s a 1950s hip roof in Hoffman Heights or a newer home in Southshore near Aurora Reservoir, we install Malarkey and Owens Corning shingles — including Class 4 impact-resistant lines — plus metal, stone-coated steel and synthetic slate.
Many Aurora homes were built between 1970 and 1999, and those roofs are reaching the age where flashing, pipe gaskets and worn shingles start to leak. We find the real source — not just the stain on the ceiling — and repair it, from older homes around Del Mar and Morris Heights to townhomes in Heather Gardens. Inspections are free, and if a repair will do, we’ll say so.
Aurora’s commercial roofs line Colfax Avenue, the Havana Street business district between 6th and Dartmouth, and the retail and office around Southlands and Mershops Town Center. We install TPO and EPDM single-ply membranes, low-slope systems and metal roofing, coordinate the mid-roof inspection Aurora may require on low-slope work, and schedule around your hours.
After a storm like the one that left hail piled in eastern Aurora streets on June 1, 2026, flat commercial roofs near Gateway Park and the Airport Boulevard corridor need a close look for punctures and split seams. We repair membranes, flashing and penetrations, document storm damage for your insurer, and protect tenants and inventory while we work.
Aurora’s high-plains sun beats down on roofs at 5,300 to 6,200 feet, and older flat roofs on commercial buildings along Colfax and in the northwest part of the city often have a sound deck under a worn-out surface. Acrylic, silicone and SPF/urethane coatings seal and reflect, adding years to the roof without a tear-off.
Storms roll across Aurora’s open eastern plains with little to slow them down — and the newest neighborhoods in The Aurora Highlands, Painted Prairie and Harmony sit right in that path. We assess storm damage for free, tarp what can’t wait, and repair or replace wind- and hail-damaged roofs to the city’s re-roofing standards.
Colorado’s Division of Insurance calls hail the biggest driver of homeowners premiums here, and Aurora sees its share — from 1.5-inch hail at Buckley in 2017 to the May 2024 storm across northern Aurora. Monica worked as a storm-damage insurance adjuster, so we document every impact, meet your adjuster on the roof and discuss the repair scope with your insurer. Colorado law (CRS 6-22) requires a written contract and bars any contractor from waiving your deductible — and we follow it.
Weather on the high plains. Aurora rises from about 5,285 feet near the Denver line to 6,229 feet in the southeast, and its eastern half is open prairie — the same shortgrass country preserved at the Plains Conservation Center on Hampden Avenue. Storms that build over the foothills cross the whole metro before they reach Aurora, which is why the city keeps showing up in hail reports: hail up to 2.5 inches in Aurora in 2018, a 1- to 2-inch swath across northern Aurora in May 2024, and hail that lingered in the streets near Buckley Space Force Base in June 2026.
Getting around Aurora. We reach Aurora on I-225 and I-70 and work outward along E-470. Parker Road and Chambers Road bring us to the neighborhoods around Cherry Creek State Park; Smoky Hill Road and Arapahoe Road to Saddle Rock, Tallyn’s Reach and Southlands; Quincy Avenue to Quincy Reservoir and Beacon Point; and Tower Road and Gun Club Road to Murphy Creek, Harmony and The Aurora Highlands.
Aurora’s three roofing markets. Aurora has three distinct roofing markets. Northwest Aurora — Hoffman Heights, Del Mar and the Colfax corridor — is full of 1950s and ’60s ranches, including about 1,700 hip-roofed homes Sam Hoffman built in Hoffman Heights. The 1970s–’90s suburbs in between make up most of the housing stock and are now due for replacement. And the southeast and E-470 corridor are growing fast, with new communities like Painted Prairie and Prairie Point — which broke ground in May 2026 — under HOA rules for color and material.
Permits, codes and Colorado law. The City of Aurora requires a permit for re-roofing and builds to the 2021 IRC; its re-roofing guide covers sheathing, drip edge, ice barrier, ventilation and high-wind nailing, and the permit holder must call in inspections. Aurora also licenses roofing contractors, with ICC roofing certification required. At the state level, Colorado’s roofing statute (CRS 6-22) gives you a written contract and a 72-hour right to cancel after signing or after an insurance denial, and the new Strengthen Colorado Homes program (SB26-155) will fund resilient-roof grants once it launches.
Monica Hoffmann worked as a storm-damage insurance adjuster before founding Roof Masters. Google reviewers describe her meeting the insurance inspector on the roof and working through the claim with their insurer — exactly what Aurora homeowners need after a hailstorm.
From the June 2018 storm to the May 2024 swath across northern Aurora, we know what hail does to roofs here. We’ll walk you through Class 4 impact-resistant options and build to the City of Aurora’s re-roofing standards.
Our tagline is “Honesty and Integrity ALWAYS Come First.” Whether it’s a 70-year-old ranch in northwest Aurora or a newer HOA home near Southlands, you’ll get a clear, itemized estimate and no pressure.
Monica got her start in roofing during the Hurricane Andrew recovery and has worked Colorado hail seasons for decades. She stays involved on every job, and Google reviewers repeatedly mention her communication from estimate to cleanup.
Every installation carries our 5-year workmanship warranty on top of the manufacturer’s warranty. As an Owens Corning Platinum Preferred and Malarkey Certified contractor, we can offer top-tier manufacturer coverage on Aurora roofs.
As a roofing company serving Aurora, CO, we cover the whole city — Original Aurora and Hoffman Heights, the Cherry Creek and Smoky Hill areas, Saddle Rock, Tallyn’s Reach, Murphy Creek, and the new neighborhoods of The Aurora Highlands, Painted Prairie and Harmony. We also serve the rest of the Greater Denver Metro, including:
It depends on the size and pitch of the roof, the number of layers coming off, any decking that needs replacing, and the material you choose. Asphalt shingles are the most affordable; Class 4 impact-resistant shingles, metal and stone-coated steel cost more but hold up better to Aurora hail. If storm damage is involved, your insurance claim may cover much of the cost. Every Aurora estimate we give is free and itemized.
Yes. The City of Aurora requires a permit for re-roofing, and the permit holder must call in the required inspections — including a mid-roof inspection on some tile, metal and low-slope roofs. Aurora’s re-roofing guide also sets rules for sheathing, drip edge, ice barrier and nailing. We pull the permit and meet the inspector, so you don’t have to.
Look for dented gutters, downspouts and vents, granules collecting at the bottom of downspouts, and dark bruises or cracked tabs on shingles — but most hail damage can’t be seen from the ground. Aurora has been hit repeatedly, including the May 30, 2024 storm across northern Aurora and the June 1, 2026 hail in eastern Aurora near Buckley. After any storm, call us for a free inspection; we photograph every impact so you have documentation for your insurer.
Yes. Many southeast Aurora communities — Saddle Rock, Tallyn’s Reach, Beacon Point, Southshore — and newer neighborhoods like Painted Prairie have HOA rules for roof color and material. The City of Aurora’s own re-roofing guide tells homeowners to check with their HOA before changing roof covering. We help you choose an approved product and can provide spec sheets and samples for your architectural review.
Often, when a storm caused the damage — but every policy is different. Because Monica is a former insurance adjuster, we document the damage, meet your adjuster and discuss the scope with your insurer. Colorado law requires a written roofing contract you can cancel within 72 hours of signing — or within 72 hours of a claim denial — and prohibits any contractor from paying or waiving your deductible.
For a lot of Aurora homeowners, yes. Aurora doesn’t require them, but the Colorado Division of Insurance says hail drives a large share of homeowners premiums here, and Class 4 impact-resistant shingles may qualify for a premium discount — ask your insurer. Colorado’s new Strengthen Colorado Homes program (SB26-155, signed June 2026) will also fund grants for hail- and wind-resistant roofs once it launches. We’ll price standard and Class 4 options side by side.
Whether you’re in a Hoffman Heights ranch, a Saddle Rock two-story or a brand-new home in Painted Prairie, Roof Masters of Colorado will inspect your roof, give you an honest itemized quote and stand behind the work. Estimates are always free for Aurora homeowners and businesses.
